Grimbergen Abbey Brewery
Grimbergen Abbey Brewery has a remarkable history dating back to 1128, when it was founded by the Norbertine Order in Belgium. It is known as the "Beer of the Phoenix," as the abbey and its brewery have been destroyed by fire three times over the centuries yet always rebuilt. In 2021, for the first time in over 200 years, beer production officially returned to the abbey grounds in Belgium with a new microbrewery that combines traditional recipes with modern innovations. Brewing operations there are jointly led by Father Karel and master brewer Marc-Antoine Sochon.
